You need special proteins called growth factors that stimulate cells to make new hair follicles and another set to enable the new hair follicles to grow into thicker, fuller and darker hairs. You also need good blood flow in the scalp as well as many nutrients to support the growth.

Minoxidil (Rogaine®) helps to reduce hair loss and increase hair thickness by improving the scalp circulation. But the specific growth factors used to promote hair growth are needed to provide enough energy to grow normal hairs. We had presented to you our topical version of skinfo® Follispray 2 newsletters ago, which contains the growth factors and nutrients need to get to this next step.

Now we are introducing treatments to jumpstart this process by using a concentrated form of FSP. There are 2 new treatments available at Advanced Dermatology: Cosmetic Hair Growth Treatment and Medical Hair Growth Treatment.

Cosmetic Hair Growth Treatment is for those who have genetic hair loss (male or female pattern). This consists of getting an infusion with the Hydrafacial machine into the scalp of the growth factors and nutrient solution (FSP Solution) needed by the hair follicles to grow and mature. The Hydrafacial sweeps away any debris from the scalp and infuses the FSP solution directly into the area of the cells that can create new follicles and stimulate smaller ones to grow thicker and bigger. These treatments are performed by our esthetic team Mari, Alla and Lisa and is not painful nor cause hair to fall out. Your hair will be wet at the end of the treatment, but we do have hair dyers at both locations for your use.

Medical Hair Growth Treatments are for conditions such as alopecia areata or frontal fibrosing alopecia, which cause hair loss due to a medical condition. This treatment consists of a superficial microneedling followed by application and massage of the FSP solution into the scalp.

Both treatments are recommended at 1 month intervals and usually 3-6 treatments are needed to ensure results, with results typically being noticed after the second treatment. Neither treatment is covered by insurance. Both conditions are chronic, meaning that this will not cure hair loss, but will require some maintenance. However, individual cases and responses will tell us how much maintenance will be needed and will vary also with how diligent people are in using their home care.

For more information call 847-459-6400. If you would like to make an appointment to discuss or start treatments, make an appointment with a medical provider for medical hair loss or if you are not sure what type of hair loss you have and make a consultation visit with a cosmetic coordinator if you know you have cosmetic hair loss.

Hair growth is a complex biological process.
