Xeomin\u00ae\u00a0 is designed to treat brow wrinkles, crow\u2019s feet, bunny lines, and frown lines.<\/span><\/h2>\n

Advanced Dermatology participated in the study that led to FDA approval of Xeomin\u00ae as an alternative to BOTOX\u00ae Cosmetic and Dysport\u00ae injections.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although introduced in the U.S. in 2010, Xeomin\u00ae\u00a0 has been used successfully in other countries since 2005. Like <\/span>BOTOX\u00ae<\/span><\/a> Cosmetic and <\/span>Dysport\u00ae<\/span><\/a>, Xeomin\u00ae\u00a0 is designed to treat brow wrinkles, crow\u2019s feet, bunny lines, and frown lines. The active ingredient, botulinum toxin, is exactly the same as in <\/span>BOTOX\u00ae<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Dysport\u00ae<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 Patients whose cosmetic results with <\/span>BOTOX\u00ae<\/span><\/a> or <\/span>Dysport\u00ae<\/span><\/a> are unsatisfactory may have more success with Xeomin\u00ae.<\/span><\/p>\n

How Do I Know If I Need Xeomin\u00ae?<\/h2>\n

If you have moderate to severe frown or forehead lines, crow\u2019s feet, or smile lines around your eyes, Xeomin\u00ae injections may be a good option to make you appear more relaxed and less tired.<\/p>\n

If you received BOTOX\u00ae or Dysport\u00ae and found that your improvement is less than expected, didn\u2019t last as long as it should, or has decreased for a given dosage, you may respond better to Xeomin\u00ae. Our experience shows that people who respond poorly to BOTOX\u00ae often respond well to Xeomin\u00ae. Failure to respond to BOTOX\u00ae may be due to the formation of antibodies to proteins that surround the active ingredient of BOTOX\u00ae. Since the active ingredient of Xeomin\u00ae is not coated with protein, antibodies do not form and the patient may respond better.<\/p>\n

You should not have Xeomin\u00ae if you are pregnant, have an infection at the site of Xeomin\u00ae injection, or have multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome. If you have any neurological disease or history of temporary paralysis, loss of vision, or double vision, you should not have Xeomin\u00ae injections. These disorders may increase the risk of complications with Xeomin\u00ae injection and worsen an underlying disorder.<\/p>\n

How Does Xeomin\u00ae Work?<\/h2>\n

Xeomin\u00ae works by targeting the muscles responsible for wrinkles and fine lines. It contains a neuromodulator that disrupts the communication between nerves and muscles and blocks facial muscles from contracting. By blocking these contractions, Xeomin\u00ae temporarily reduces lines and wrinkles near the treated area.<\/p>\n

What Benefits Can I Expect to Receive from Xeomin\u00ae?<\/h2>\n

Xeomin\u00ae has many benefits including targeted wrinkle reduction, a quick treatment process, and long-lasting results. The overall results of the injections depend on the area treated. What Makes Xeomin\u00ae Different from BOTOX\u00ae?<\/h2>\n

The biggest difference between Xeomin\u00ae and BOTOX\u00ae is the ingredients in each injectable. Xeomin\u00ae is a purified form of botulinum toxin type A, while BOTOX\u00ae is composed of a mixture of proteins. The presence of these extra proteins in BOTOX\u00ae may increase the change of allergic reactions compared to Xeomin\u00ae. Since the active ingredient of Xeomin\u00ae is not coated with protein, antibodies do not form and some patients may see better results with Xeomin\u00ae if they\u2019ve developed antibodies to the proteins in BOTOX\u00ae.<\/p>\n

While Xeomin\u00ae and BOTOX\u00ae are similar injectables, they may have some differences in effectiveness. For some, the results of Xeomin\u00ae last longer than BOTOX\u00ae. Additionally, Xeomin\u00ae is associated with faster results, with many patients seeing the effect of the treatment within 3-5 days, while it may take 2 weeks to see the full effects of BOTOX\u00ae.<\/p>\n

How Much Xeomin\u00ae Will I Need?<\/h2>\n

Xeomin\u00ae and other injectables are measured by units. The amount of Xeomin\u00ae units a patient may need will vary. It will depend on the area being treated and the strength of the muscle.
